About One Way Street Style

How did One Way Street Style originate? It's quite a tale — to be precise, a brief story that unfolded over many years.

Perhaps it's an unusual trait, but I find amusement in small things while doing routine activities, such as driving. Around 2006, long before I delved into audiobooks, I began to find certain road signs amusing. Once you recognize such peculiarities, they become impossible to ignore, and you see them everywhere.

Later, I toyed with the idea of placing some of these signs on a t-shirt. The concept intrigued me, but life's responsibilities — working and raising a family — took precedence.

By 2023, even though I had just welcomed my fifth child, I was fortunate enough to take several months off for paternity leave, thanks to my employer's generous policy. My ever-enterprising wife, upon hearing the t-shirt idea from me, was initially dubious. She usually approaches my off-the-cuff ideas with skepticism. However, this time, the tables turned. She began spotting humorous signs at every corner and urged me to act on this particular vision.

Now, the notion of featuring road signs on t-shirts wasn't innovative — many had tread this path before. However, I believed no brand exclusively showcased signs. Moreover, most t-shirts available in the market were positioned as "gag gifts" — often made of inferior materials and emblazoned with comical signs or quotes. I yearned for something different. I wanted a t-shirt that could spark intriguing conversations at gatherings, not label me as a jest. Given my Wall Street background and distaste for formal attire, this felt right.

Thus, One Way's foundational idea was born: "Fashion is fun!"
